On-premise sales velocity grew 11% in the week ending on April 11 versus the previous week, and up by 26% from the week ending on March 26, according to Nielsen CGA report covering New York, California, Illinois, and Florida. The numbers suggest that the market is adapting to current conditions.

9% of US consumers have ordered alcohol with takeout or delivery, including 17% of 21-34-year-olds. Additionally, the average number of checks per on-premise outlet were up 26% compared to dismal numbers from early in the lockdown process. Though, still below pre-pandemic levels.

The top five drink categories for takeout and delivery so far have been red wine, imported beer, craft beer, white wine, and neat spirits.

Large packs for alcoholic beverages are the preferred takeout/delivery option, with multi-packs for beer and 750mL bottles for wine and spirits leading the way.
