James and Agnes Annarella operated a small gas station and repair shop in Little Silver, New Jersey, in the 1920s. With the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, the Annarellas saw an opportunity. They secured a license for beer distribution, naming their business Shore Point Distributing Company, and began distributing Horton’s Beer, and they were appointed as a Schaefer Beer distributor in 1934.

The company saw steady growth throughout the next 30 years and expanded its territory and brands. In the 1980s, they became the distributor of California Coolers, and in 1987, they were awarded the distribution rights for the Coors Brewing Company, which Corona and Samuel Adams followed in 1988.

The expansion in business led the company to invest in a 100,000-square-foot facility and a fleet of new trucks that allowed it to serve a broader area and become one of the leaders in the New Jersey beer-distributing industry.

They saw an opportunity in craft beer, adding one of the most popular craft beer brands, Yuengling, in 2000, which again proved the right move. Shore Point added a wine and spirits division in 2008, opening the doors to a brand-new 269,000-square-foot facility in Freehold, New Jersey.

The company invests heavily in solar power, emphasizing environmental responsibility, offsetting its annual electric load, and eliminating nearly 2 million pounds of CO2 emissions annually. The Shore Point Company also has a strong community spirit, sponsoring events throughout New Jersey.
