L&F Distributors began as a small family-owned business in McAllen, Texas. The company initially focused on distributing mega-brands like Budweiser, Bud Light, and Michelob, and they soon spread their area of operations to include several counties in South Texas.

They operate in 35 counties in Texas and Southern New Mexico. They have a diverse portfolio, including over 150 craft and imported beers and an extensive list of wines, spirits, and other beverages.

Joe LaMantia Jr. purchased L&F Distributors in 1978, which marked the start of the current company. Starting with about 20 employees, L&F Distributors initially worked with the most popular beer brands in the US, being an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler for McAllen, and the surrounding counties, including the cities of Harlingen, Alice, and Laredo.

The company expanded its market to include Corpus Christi in 2001, and it acquired Desert Eagle Distribution in 2008, bringing them to serve El Paso, TX, and Roswell, NM. As of 2022, L&F Distributors have spread to serve 35 counties in Texas and Southern New Mexico, and they have over 1200 employees, operating out of eight state-of-the-art distribution centers.

The company also expanded its product portfolio, and they now represent Anheuser-Busch products (similar to L Knife & Sons in Massachusetts) and over 150 craft and imported beers. L&F Distributors also carry wines, spirits, seltzers, non-alcoholic drinks, water, milk, and energy drinks.

L&F Distributors also has other services for their clients, as they provide knowledge for their clients on pairing drinks with food, proper pouring, and info on the brews they sell. They also have a course on glassware and more.

The company is involved in the communities they serve and supports local non-profit organizations and community events. The LaMantia family and L&F Distributors support higher education. Joe LaMantia Jr established the Stars Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships for South and West Texas students, raising over $36 million and supporting over 17,778 students by 2021.
