The Impact of E-commerce on Global Beverage Alcohol

Online retailing of alcohol has greatly impacted the drinks industry. IWSR Drinks Market Analysis’ global database reveals that 1.8 percent of the value of all alcoholic drinks that are traded throughout the world is now sold through e-commerce. In 2018, about 3.6 percent of all wine value sales were attributed to e-commerce outlets, reaching nearly $8 billion in sales. IWSR research reported that about $6.5 billion of spirits were sold last year, making up 2 percent of all global spirits’ value sales.
