The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) is increasing efforts to put a stop to illegal shipments of alcohol to the state. As a result, the organization sent seven out-of-state businesses a cease and desist for illegal direct-to-consumer shipments. The businesses are primarily based in Northeastern states such as New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, as well as one business in Florida.

Wine can be legally shipped direct to consumers in Tennessee, but a Winery Direct Shipper’s license must be issued by the commission first. The TABC discovered the violations by analyzing common carrier reports compiled by the Tennessee Department of Revenue.
