Texas lawmaker Matt Rinaldi has written a new bill, (HB2291) that could potentially reform the state’s laws regarding direct shipment of wine to consumers. Under current law only Texas retailers, Texas wineries and out-of-state wineries can ship wine to Texas consumers. It is currently illegal for consumers to receive wine shipped to them from out-of-state retailers and wine stores.

The new bill would allow Texas consumers to receive wine shipments from out-of-state retailers and would also take away the limit of how much wine a winery may ship to Texans. Lastly, the bill would also allow out-of-state breweries and distilleries to also ship to in-state consumers.
