Union Beer Distributors was established in the 1980s, and it was in 1989 when Paul Bussiere and Robert Hodson, who were employed at different beer distributors then, joined Union Beer Distributors. The time coincided with the expanding growth of craft beer brands in general in NYC, and Union Beer Distributors bought the entire portfolio from Craft Brewers Guild.

The company was acquired by L. Knife and Son in 1996, which became the Sheehan Family Companies. However, Union Beer Distributors remained an independent organization and spread its service area. It now includes Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, and Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk counties).

Union Beer Distributors is based in Williamsburg and has an extensive portfolio of craft and specialty brands and the entire Anheuser-Busch portfolio for Brooklyn and parts of Queens. The company employs about 750 people and is committed to providing the highest service levels. They employ highly knowledgeable sales reps and constantly work to improve the level of service they provide the customers.
