The company started its story in 1928 when Stephen L. Vukelic started bottling soft drinks in Lackawanna, New York. During the prohibition, he established Try-It Distributing, and once the prohibition was repealed in 1933, he started distributing beer, starting with Phoenix. Later, he added Budweiser and Michelob and later Labatt.

Stephen’s son Gene took over the business and was joined by his sons, Paul, Jeff, Timothy, Peter, and Matthew. The company saw a rise in the business, and in 2004 they formed a subsidiary of Try-It Distributing, Balkan Beverage, devoted exclusively to non-alcoholic beverages like Red Bull, Arizona teas, and more.

Northern Distributing was founded in 1933 in Saratoga and later spread its service area to include Schenectady, Warren, Washington, and Essex counties. It was renamed Saratoga Eagle Sales & Service; in 2005, Try-It Distributing bought Saratoga Eagle Sales & Service in Glenn Falls, New York, putting Jeff Vukelic as the COO of the company.

Today, the company operated out of a 150,000-square feet facility with over 180 employees. They deliver over 5,000,000 cases of drinks annually, and they cooperate with over 2,500 customers. They have a vast and varied portfolio that includes domestic and imported products and products from the Drink Upstate NY beverage group.
