The Imperial Beverage Company History

The original Imperial Beverage Company was founded in 1933, right at the end of the Prohibition Era, by Walter Berry, and later run by his sons Jack and Bud Berry. The company operated in one Michigan county and did not spread its operations until much later. In 1984, a family from Kalamazoo bought the company and from then on, the Imperial Beverage Company saw incredible growth and development.

The Cekola family bought the company and is still in charge today. However, the company is run by the descendants of Joseph Cekola. The company has an excellent policy towards its employees; they offer health insurance, a 401K match, volunteer programs, and internship opportunities.

To make sure the company stays on top of its business, they have established a great plan of operation. The initial contact begins with an interview, establishing that both parties are aware of the expected and provided services.

The next step is consistent sales calls, ensuring that each client’s needs are met. The company prides itself on accurate delivery, reliable schedules, and friendly service. The Imperial Beverage clients are prompted to leave reviews and feedback that will help the company better tailor the services and portfolio.

The staff is very knowledgeable, and 30 of them have wine certifications, 67 have beer certifications, and 50 have commercial driver’s licenses. A big part of the company is their charitable side, as they have a memorial fund in the name of Joseph A. Cekola helping families with developmentally disabled members, a cause very close to the Cekola family.

The Imperial Beverage Company is devoted to the future, and they have a great company vision and mission in place. The company currently carries around 6000 brands in its portfolio satisfying every customer’s need, with great emphasis on quality customer service.
