The Hensley Beverage Company was founded in 1955 by Jim Hensley. He dreamed of delivering ice-cold beer to his fellow Phoenicians, and to achieve his dream, he started small, with a $10,000 loan, with 12 employees and several vehicles. During their first year, they delivered over 73,000 cases of Anheuser-Busch beer to their customers.

The key to Jim Hensley’s success was his investment in refrigerated warehouses and the generous wages he paid his employees. The company has grown consistently and has turned into a massive undertaking. Jim Hensley’s daughter Cindy Hensley married John McCain, then retired Navy Officer, and he went to work for the company. Still, he soon left to join Congress, and Robert (Bob) Delgado was named CEO, while Cindy Hensley McCain remained the controlling stockholder and the board chair.

Jim Hensley passed away in 2000, but the company, now known as Hensley & Co., run by Delgado and Cindy Hensley McCain, continued its growth and is now the largest state-wide wholesale drinks distributor in Arizona.
