The History

Craig Stein bought Cascade Distributing in 1990, renaming it C. Stein Distributing, starting the CSB story. They acquired Fort Wine in 1991, Cowlitz Distributing in 1993, and Longview Ice and Storage and R&R Distributing in 1996. All of these are Washington State-based companies, but in 1998, they acquired the Spirit Distributing Company in Boise, ID, officially starting the C. Stein Beverage Group.

During the following decade, CSB made other acquisitions, and what began as a small company in Vancouver, WA, with just 11 employees grew into one of the most extensive beer, wine, spirits, non-alcoholic, soft drink, and snack distributors in the Northwest and Intermountain market areas. The successful growth is attributed to developing long-term relationships, hiring and developing a solid management team, and providing a healthy working environment to employees.

The company has a very long and extensive portfolio of domestic and imported beer brands, US and international wine brands, and many world-renowned spirits brands. Also, CSB Group offers a long and varied list of non-alcoholic beverages like sodas, waters, kombuchas, teas, coffees, and energy drinks.

CSB Group also partakes in community events and supports charitable organizations like the Idaho Food Bank, Joyce Stein Foundation, Leinenkugel’s River Clean-Up, the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes, and the Washington Alliance for Vancouver Public Schools, and the Clark County Food Bank.
