The company’s story started in 1938 when Fate D. Leebern founded the Georgia Crown Distributing Company. It was known as the Columbus Wine Company Distributors, and the company began selling liquor at the end of Prohibition in Columbus, Georgia.
Since the founder, the company has been helmed by Leebern family members, and today a fourth generation of the family is running the company. They spread operations to Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee and became a full-service beverage distributor selling domestic and imported beers, wines, and spirits.
They also entered the home and office bottled water business, opening their first water bottling plant in Dahlonega, Georgia; today, the water division is named Melwood Springs, with the bottling facility in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Their corporate office is in McDonough, Georgia, where the major business decisions are made. The Alabama office and state-of-the-art warehouse is in Alabaster, Alabama. From here, Alabama Crown Distributing Co. distributes its wines, domestic and imported beers, and an excellent variety of non-alcoholic beverages.
