Washington liquor lovers rejoice: Beginning this weekend, you can now have that bottle of Jack or some high-quality Patron delivered right to your door.
It’s now legal for liquor retailers to deliver spirits in the state of Washington, granted that the customer is over 21 years of age. Only beer and wine were previously deliverable, but state has added spirits to the list.
Washingotn adopted the rule, which is meant only for retailers with spirit retail licenses, to “create consistency for all types of alcohol.” Retailers must notify the state liquor control board before offering online sales.
Since we just recently wrote about Amazon’s new plan to deliver meals to your door, it makes you wonder whether or not the Seattle e-commerce giant will start delivering spirits through Amazon Fresh. You can already order beer and wine on the platform — are tequila and rum next?
It’s been interesting watching the home delivery of food and drink pick up steam. Just yesterday we wrote about San Francico-based Munchery announcing plans for expansion to Seattle.
