Craft beer has really taken off in Texas. There is almost weekly announcements of a new craft brewery opening, introduction of a new craft beer flavor, or the launch of a new craft beer coming to the Texas market from out of state.
Craft beer is growing faster in Texas than almost any other state. According to the Craft Brewers Guild, Texas is home to more than 200 craft breweries and growing. State laws requiring distributors to be independent provide regional and small brewers the immediate ability to get their beer to retailers around the state which helps brands to proliferate. Texas is also one of a handful of states that allows large-scale self-distribution by craft brewers. Texas craft brewers are further permitted to operate tap rooms or bars on their brewery premises.
