The United States of America is known for the three-tier system concerning alcohol distribution, which are importers, distributors, and retailers. However, direct-to-consumer (DTC) shipping changes this by removing the middlemen involved.

There are currently 45 states in the U.S. that permit DTC shipping of wine. The states involved require all DTC shippers to register their product labels, pay taxes, check IDs, as well as get licensed.
