A new Bill, House Bill H3891, sponsored by Representative John Lawn Jr. has been assigned to the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure to be heard this month.

The Bill, if passed, would finally allow the state full access to all of the wines available in the American wine market. Current Massachusetts law bans residents from receiving wine shipments from out-of-state wine stores and retailers. It also bans Massachusetts wine stores from shipping their products out-of-state. The bill would also allow wine sales into the state from properly licensed internet retailers, wine auction houses and wine of the month clubs. The state would also receive a sizeable amount of tax revenue on wine shipments made from all of the new out-of-state wine vendors.
