In Tennessee the legislature has passed a proposal to exempt distillers from having to pay property tax on whiskey barrels, a fee that the distilleries have said they have not had to pay since Prohibition ended over 80 years ago.

Last month the Tennessee House legislature voted 78-12 for the bill by Republican representative David Alexander of Winchester. The Senate had previously voted 30-0 in favor of the proposal. The bill now heads to the governor’s office for signing.
