Around the world Organic wine currently makes up less than 5 percent of vineyards production. In the United States, the number 1 consumer of wine in the world, only 1 percent of wine sold by volume was organic last year. Strangely the organic craze has been slow to hit the wine market unlike other organic segments like vegetables, milk and tea.

Experts believe that Organic wine didn’t initially catch on due to a poor reputation for quality, deserved or not. That sentiment is changing and Organic wine is growing in popularity with some Organic wines beginning to win prestigious awards. The rise can also be contributed to popular fine-dining restaurants in major North American cities.
